KENSINGTON, LONDON
|
Project: Private House
Location: Notting Hill
Completed: 2016
Floor Area: 6600 sq ft

In the exclusive area of Notting Hill, working with the team at developer Bancroft Heath, we have designed a luxury home, a stone’s throw from Notting Hill. The exterior is Victorian but the interior is pure 21st Century – though with an elegant, minimal restraint.

The concept was to create a beautiful home that was honest with its materials and celebrated craftsmanship.
There are five floors including a new double basement housing spa and gym, sauna, Japanese plunge pool, wine cellar, surround-sound cinema, family room and staff quarters. At street level the ground floor is traditional in layout but contemporary in detail. Nowhere is this better illustrated than in the custom-built cantilevered, stone stair running the full height of the house; a clever take on a Victorian staircase.

The entire building has cutting-edge technology which allows the owner to control its systems remotely. Thomas Bridges, who built the house in 1851, would be amazed.

The design is a calm and tranquil oasis in the heart of the city, celebrating space, light and materials.
